Super Vendor
A Bohemian Collective project for SXSW 2012
On March 12th during SXSW, you may have seen a vending machine being pulled by a bicycle through the streets of Austin. That was us. We were handing out Bohemian Almanacs, a pocket-sized guide for developers and designers and also a great place to take notes and wireframe a new app idea.
Now you couldn't just walk up to us and ask for a book, they were being vending out of a vending machine. What made this vending machine so great was the fact that it was a giant Android accessory. A giant, bicycle-propelled Android accessory. We hacked the vending machine so that the keypad presses went to the phone, which searched our database to make sure your code was valid (which you got from following @bohemianllc). Then if you had a valid code, you were able to make your selection. This project utilized the unique talents of our team from the design for the books to the pedal power keeping the vending machine on the go.
Unfortunately the vending machine has been retired, but getting a Bohemian Almanac is simple. Email info@bohemian.cc with why you desperately desire one, your favorite color, and an address and we will send it to you.
